Check Out These Vlogs
I came across the following information while reading the New York Times a couple weeks ago. Although I thought it was interesting, it was really of no use to me.
You see, and here comes a true confession, I’m of the few remaining travelers in the world who doesn’t own an iPod (or variation thereof). Scandalous, I know. And I’m sure that I’m missing out on lots of good stuff. My world still seems to function well without it, though.
I don’t have an iPod to download these travel vlogs to, but maybe you do.
Turn Here is a travel-planning site that now has short films (amateur and professional quality) about cool, but quirky, places, offbeat neighborhoods, bars, etc. There are currently about 110 destinations, with more on the way. The videos run about 3 minutes. I checked out the videos for the Seattle area, and liked the videos on Ballard and Fremont. They served as a good reminder that I need to get out and about my own hometown.
Travelocity says they have a video gallery (about 150 destinations), however in my navigation around the site, I couldn’t find them. They must be well hidden.
Zoom and Go has video hotel reviews from guests who have really been at the hotels. They range in length from 30 seconds to two minutes, and cover information on a variety of topics.

I don’t have an iPod either but usually you can view these using a laptop or other computer, no?

I’m glad to know that I’m not the only one without an iPod!
Yes, most of the vlogs can be viewed on a laptop, and I have watched a few of them that way. Obviously, not as convenient to carry around, though. :-)
