Checking In You & Your Bags
Travelers are always looking for a way to cut down check-in time at the airport, and a couple of services have crossed my path in the last few days that may help to make this process a little easier.
If you are attending a convention at Chicago’s McCormick’s Place, a new service will allow you to check in for your O’Hare (ORD) departing flight on the last day of your convention.
BAGS, is a private company that will check you and your luggage in, print up your boarding pass, and transport your luggage to the airport. The company works closely with the TSA, has employees who have been through background checks, and keeps your luggage secure en route to the airport. Once there, it is screened through the usual process. BAGS charges a $10 service fee, and there are ongoing discussions about extending the service to other Chicago locations.
Most airlines allow you to check in via the web and print out your boarding pass using your computer. But what if you don’t have access to your computer, or if you can’t get a web connection?
Guests at select Hilton Hotels (37 at current count) can now use the hotel lobby kiosks to check in for their flight. The kiosks will connect to the airline home page, allowing you to check in, request upgrades, change your seat location, and print out your boarding pass. Eighteen airlines have signed on to the program, and there is no charge for the service.
I think we’ll see more of these services offered to help take the sting out of airport waiting time.
