Cigars in San Jose
While I’m a rabid non-smoker, I must confess to enjoying the smell of a good cigar. . . for a short period of time. . . in a large room.
Since most hotels have gone the non-smoking route, and even those that allow smoking usually don’t allow cigars, cigar-smoking travelers to San Jose, California will want to know about Fumare Cigar Lounge (157 W. Santa Clara Street, downtown).
Fumare offers three services to its customers:
- A cigar boutique with a broad spectrum of quality tobacco and cigars, smoking accessories, humidors, and lighters available for purchase.
- A smoking lounge where members can relax with their cigars, have a drink, watch a game, read a book, or just engage in conversation.
- A humidor, available for executive and corporate members use, featuring climate controlled private lockers.
Three different “memberships” are available. The Associate Membership is likely to be the most attractive for travelers, providing access to the smoking lounge. It is available for $10 day, or $30 month.
Fumare’s hours are Monday - Thursday noon - 10 pm, Friday & Saturday noon - 11 pm. Closed on Sundays.
And remember, smoking may be hazardous to your health!

Great article - it’s good to hear that there are still places to relax and have a stogie in San Jose.
Because it’s getting harder and harder to find a place to enjoy a cigar, we launched an interactive map that lists cigar-friendly places (http://www.cigarplaces.com). If you know of a good spot, you can add it to the map and help others find it.

Yeah, smoking has become pretty unpopular. While I’m a non-smoker myself, I don’t really have a problem with these kinds of clubs.
