Extremes of Nature in Patagonia
Day 6 of Geography Awareness week, and my profiles of where I’d like to visit on each of our seven continents. Today it’s South America.
It was hard to decide where I’d most like to go in South America. I’ve been to a few cities, and have had just a bit of a taste of what there is to experience. Finally, though, I chose Patagonia.
Patagonia is in the southern most part of South America. It’s primarily in Argentina, although a portion of it is in Chile. Patagonia also includes the Andes Mountains.
The area is known for diverse landscape and climate, encompassing both extremes, and offers wonderful outdoor adventures. There’s scuba diving and skiing. Beaches and glaciers.
It is home to tropical parakeets and flamingos, as well as Emperor penguins and elephant seals. It’s home to flora and fauna that manage to co-exist is some of the most diverse weather conditions that I can imagine. It’s sun and beach and tropics, and it’s frigid waters, snow, and glaciers.
What a fabulous adventure and opportunity to view and photograph the incredible wildlife and scenery.

Patagonia just seems like an area of such huge contrasts. It’s pretty remote, and would be an adventure, but that’s part of the reason that I chose it.

it is just amazing i am doing a ib visual art project on extremes of nature and this just re-enforces how wonderful nature can be
