From the West Coast to the East, at 10 MPH
I took a little spin on a Segway about a month ago, and thought it was great fun! (I’ll be writing more about that experience in an upcoming post.)
So the documentary 10 MPH caught my eye. It’s the story of two friends who make an impulse purchase — of a Segway. They quit their corporate days jobs, and hit the road on their Segway to pursue their dream of becoming filmmakers. The two travel the highways and byways between Seattle and Boston on their Segway, traveling at 10 miles per hour.
Is this the ultimate “are we there yet” film?
Released on DVD in May 2007 the film was a do-it-yourself labor of love for the friends, both in the production and the distribution of the film.
The film is now available as a free iTunes compatible download. To get the download, you need to go to OurStage and register, but for your time and effort, OurStage will donate $1 to the filmmakers for their next film. 10 Yards, a documentary about fantasy football.
If you want to get a sense of what to expect in the film, and have a little fun as well, you can watch this video of Segway crashes and bloopers. I can relate — not that anything like this happened to me!
The documentary is 92 minutes in length.
