Get Lost in a Halloween Corn Maze
If you’re looking for a non-spooky way to celebrate Halloween, consider visiting a corn maze.
An activity that has grown over the last couple of decades, corn mazes allow farmers to make a few dollars from tourism, in addition to their corn crop. Think of it as crop art, with visitors paying a fee to the farmers to pick apples, select pumpkins, and wander in a cornfield.
The corn crop coincides with the Halloween season, and just as the crops are dependent on the weather, so is the tourism side of corn. The nice autumn weather bodes well for the corn crop, and also brings tourists to the fields.
One of the largest, and most established mazes is Sever’s Corn Maze. Now in its 10th year, the event has turned into a full-fledged harvest fairand this year’s maze designs center around an Egyptian theme. You can see the 2005 safari themed maze in the photo above.
Mazes can be found all around the country. In fact, it appears that there are only a handful of states that don’t have mazes. Check here to find a corn maze near you.
