Holiday Weekend Speed Traps
In the United States, the 4th of July holiday weekend is probably the busiest weekend for travel and vacations.
Motorists complain that gas prices rise over holiday weekends, substantially curtailing plans that might otherwise have been made for a driving vacation. While that may be true, that aspect of travel is out of our hands.
One thing you can control, however, is the way you drive.
The National Motorists Association advises drivers to be on the lookout for speed traps this holiday weekend. As the Association says:
“Nothing can ruin a vacation more quickly than an undeserved speeding ticket.”
The Association, through it’s Speed Trap Exchange, lists the following locations as places to exercise additional care:
- Detroit, Michigan suburbs
Washington D.C.
Orlando, Fla.
Colorado Springs, Colo.
Houston, Tex.
Virginia Beach, Va.
Austin, Tex.
Baton Rouge, La.
Nashville, Tenn.
Fresno, Calif.
While I think it’s just a good idea to drive safely, in general, if you are traveling in one of these areas, you may want to keep your eyes open!
