Inaugural Edition of the Carnival of Travelers

by Mary Jo Manzanares on October 7th, 2007

Welcome to the October 7, 2007 edition of Carnival of Travelers, the inaugural edition!

This was my first attempt at organizing a blog carnival, and it’s been a learning experience.  My goal was to round up some great blog posts each month, centered around a common theme, so readers could dig a little deeper into a travel topic.  Since many blog carnivals do not center around a theme, I got a lot of submissions that were not on topic.  In the spirit of keeping the Carnival of Travelers a friendly travel community, I have stretched the theme to cover as many of the submissions as possible.

Here then is what the Carnival of Travelers have to say about Fall:

Kelby H. Carr presents Extreme Autumn posted at Asheville Fall Color Hunter Blog, saying, “Anyone can leaf peep, but in Asheville you can have an Extreme Autumn. Find out about some of the cool activities, and we have an autumn intensity meter for activities.”

Jon Rochetti presents Girls’ Dinner with Wines Created by Women Winemakers posted at The DC Traveler ““ Washington DC travel & tourism information, saying, “This is a GNO (Girl’s Night Out) with a great theme. Sampling some of the best wines created by leading women in the wine making industry, combined with some amazing food and of course, great company.”  Fall is harvest and crushing time.

Michael@TSM presents Fall TSM Travel Writing Contest: Win $125! posted at Traveling Stories Magazine.  Who would like a little more exposure, and CASH, for their travel writing?

karyn presents Halloween Horror Nights at Universal Orlando posted at All About Orlando, saying, “Halloween Horror Nights at Universal Orlando is a popular destination for thrill seekers every fall. This year’s event ends November 2.”

Nancy Hayssen presents Top 10 Tourist Attractions in the Sonoma Wine Country, California posted at Save Time & Money with Our FREE Travel Tips, Deals, and Stories of Adventure!

Mary Jo Manzanares presents NO, it Does Not Rain All the Time in Seattle posted at The Seattle Traveler, saying, “With the coming of fall comes the coming of rain.”

Doris Chua presents Taking a Health Vacation posted at Doris Chua: Organics & Your Health.  Hawaii is a much loved fall travel destination.

Annette Berlin presents 17 Air Travel Survival Tips posted at Frugal Journey, saying, “I just got back from a month of visiting relatives, and I learned quite a bit in the process.”  Travel tips are a good year round reminder.

Madeleine Begun Kane presents How To Plan A Trip (Humorous How-To) posted at Mad Kane’s Humor Blog.  After the hectic summer travel season, a little humor is appreciated.

SavingWithMe presents House Swapping: Fad or Possibility posted at Saving With Me.  The holidays are coming soon, so saving money during fall travel is important.

Frugal Panda presents Fly or Drive: Which is Cheaper? (A Definitive Answer, Once and For All) posted at Frugal Panda.  It may be getting too late to find holiday bargains, but check out whether it will be cheaper to drive.

And my contribution to the Carnival of Travelers is Terror Behind the Walls posted here at Flyaway Cafe.  Halloween is one of the fun Fall holidays.

That concludes this edition. Submit your blog article to the next edition of Carnival of Travelers using our carnival submission formThe theme for the November edition is Food & Beverage.

You can find more information about past editions of the Carnival of Travelers, along with additional submission information here.

NOTE:  Several submissions had broken links, or sites that returned error messages.  I regret that I could not include some great posts because of this reason.
