Ken Burns Discusses The War at the NY Public Library
Have you been following The War on PBS? It’s the seven-part series by Ken Burns that tells the story of World War II through personal accounts and vignettes or ordinary citizens.
I’ve seen part one, and am partially through part two, and so far have found it a compelling method of bringing history to life. It’s not the story of a war, it’s the story of real people whose lives were impacted by the war.
If you’ll be in NYC on Thursday, September 27th, 7 pm, you can see Ken Burns at the New York Public Library Humanities and Social Sciences Library (Fifth Avenue at 42nd Street). The presentation will last an hour and a half.
Tickets are $15, $10 for library members, seniors, and students (ID required). Tickets can be purchased online.
I’ve written before about how much I love this library, and for those in town, this should be a great presentation and discussion.
Subway: 1, 2, 3 (red line) to 42nd & Broadway, then walk two blocks east. A, C (blue line) to 42nd & 8th Avenue, then walk four blocks east. D, B, F, V (orange line) to 42nd & 6th Avenue, then walk one block east. 4, 5, 6 (green line) to Grand Central Station, then walk two blocks west. 7 (purple line) to Fifth Avenue.
