Laptop on a Tray Table
As I sit here on a plane, scrunched up in my seat, trying to get a good angle to use my laptop, I ask myself how people do this on an every day basis.
In order to use my tray table for my laptop, it winds up practically in my lap, and I need my arms and elbows all akimbo in order to type. Today I am fortunate to have an entire row to myself, so I can spread out, use the tray table next to me, and sort of twist around in the seat to get the best angle to type. Can all this contorting of positions be good for my back, neck, and arms?
Enter the Aviator Laptop Stand, designed specifically for airline tray tables. Designed by Keynamics, a manufacturer of ergonomic office solutions, the stand is on an incline so that typing can be done without hunching over the keyboard. It weighs nine ounces, is made in the USA, and retails for under $20, making it a practical travel accessory.
It’s not going to help protect me from the child leaning over the seat in front of me who wants to play with my screen, but it should ease a number of other difficulties.

Oooohhh. A cool invention. I have for some time used a 3-ring binder to give a similar angle to my laptop, but this looks better. Actually, I am surprised that anyone can use a laptop scrunched into a coach seat. I prefer to just use my mp3 player, close my eyes, and listen to an audiobook.

Agreed, that it’s not the most comfortable, but sometimes you’ve just got to get some work done. I’d rather put up with a little discomfort enroute to free up an extra couple hours for fun at my destination.
