Las Vegas Welcomes New Playboy Club & Casino
I’m old enough to remember the first incarnation of the Playboy Club (the last one closed in 1988), so I read with interest about the opening of the first Playboy Club in nearly 25 years, in — where else — Las Vegas.
The Club opened earlier this month, in the Fantasy Tower of the Palms Casino Resort. Don’t worry if you can’t remember where it is, just look up and you’ll see the giant, neon Playboy Rabbit Head looking down over the Las Vegas Strip.
Just like the old days, the club will be staffed with bunnies as hostesses and servers, and the casino will have all female dealers. The uniforms (costumes?) have been designed in both the old-style bunny wear, as well as a new, more modern bunny look. The male pit bosses will be attired in the stereotype Hefner smoking jacket.
However, unlike the old days, no membership, or “Key” is required to get in this club. A cover charge is all that is required for entrance. Cover ranges from $20-50.
The Playboy Club has its own casino and nightclub, the latter called “Moon,” featuring a retractable roof, and a Rabbit Head on the center of the dance floor. Nearby, connected by glass-enclosed escalators, is the restaurant, Nove Italiano. Of course, there’s a gift shop to buy all those souvenir logo items, just in case you haven’t seen enough Rabbit Heads during your stay. Luxury items can also be found in the Playboy Boutique.
If you hit it really big in the casino, you may want to rent the “Hugh Hefner Sky Villa.” It’s a 2-story, 9,000 square foot suite, with a media room, fully equipped gym and sauna, outdoor Jacuzzi, and Playboy art. If that’s not decadent enough for you, the suite has 8-foot, round, rotating beds. For $40,000 a night you can feel like you’re staying in the Playboy Mansion.
The Palms Casino Resort is located at 4321 W. Flamingo Road, Las Vegas.
