Matchbook Monday: Peking Gourmet Inn
Today’s matchbook comes from the Peking Gourmet Inn in Falls Church, Virginia.
I had nearly forgotten about this restaurant, as it has been a couple years since I visited. I tried it out with a co-worker after recommendations from several passengers. It was farther from our hotel that we understood it to be, and it took us much longer to find it than we would have wished. The address is rather confusing. In fact, even when we got close we nearly missed it’s location in a rather nondescript strip mall.
The restaurant decor was nice, but fairly typical of what you see in a Chinese restaurant. If you have to wait for your table you can scan the photos of famous visitors hanging on the wall. Look closely and you’ll spot a president or two, some former cabinet members, and a host of other DC bigwigs.
The specialty of the restaurant is the Peking Duck. How was it? I don’t know. Since there were only two women dining, we didn’t think we’d have the appetite to finish the duck and we weren’t sure we had the ability to transport leftovers. ‘Twas a shame. It’s supposed to be terrific!
Peking Gourmet Inn is located at 6029 Leesburg Pike, Falls Church, Virginia (map it). It’s open Sunday - Thursday 11 am - 10:30 pm, and Friday & Saturday 11 am - 11 pm.
