Matchbook Monday: Portobello Yacht Club
Today’s matchbook comes from Portobello Yacht Club at Pleasure Island, Walt Disney World, in Florida.
It’s been several years since I’ve been to Pleasure Island, and I’m sure it has changed a lot since then.
Portobello Yacht Club overlooks Lake Buena Vista and Walt Disney World, and features Italian cuisine in a peaceful environment — a welcome change from the otherwise hectic pace of the theme parks.
The restaurant is located at 1650 Buena Vista Drive, Lake Buena Vista Florida. Lunch is served 11:30 am - 4 pm, and dinner starting at 4 pm. The restaurant offers a child’s menu and is family friendly.

This is cool.
When I was a kid, my parents had these friends who collected matchbooks. They had thousands of them from all over the world, and they kept them in big see-through containers in their living room.
Whenever we’d visit them, they would let me take the matchbooks out and look at them. I loved going there and sorting through them, looking at the unique designs and imagining the places they came from.
I had almost forgotten about that until I saw this post…thanks for the memory!!!

If you run across any of those matchbooks, I hope you’ll take a photo and send them to me. I’d love to feature one on a future Matchbook Monday.
I started this feature for exactly the reason you mention — I think most of remember a container of matchbooks from exotic and exciting places.
