Memorial Day Weekend Launches the Summer Travel Season
Memorial Day weekend marks the beginning of the summer season, which runs through Labor Day in September.
It is the first three-day weekend of the supposedly nice weather season, luring crowds to beaches, parks and tourist destinations. Airlines are expecting record number of travelers. The roads are expected to be crowded with travelers, despite the high prices of gas.
I’ll be staying home for part of the weekend, spending time catching up on a few household projects and just relaxing. In Seattle, rain is in the forecast, so no outdoor activities are planned.
Then, on Monday, I’ll fly to Palm Springs to visit a friend for a couple days, and enjoy some warm, dry weather.
What are your plans this weekend? Are you staying home and entertaining? Hitting the roads and trying to find cheap gas? Or braving the security lines at the airport?
