Money Saving Travel Tips for Monday, August 14th
Here are this week’s money saving travel tips:
- If you have your heart set on visiting that mah-velous, but expensive, restaurant, consider going for lunch when prices are generally cheaper. (Note that I said cheaper, not cheap.) Of, if that’s still beyond your budget, consider going for a cocktail and appetizer, or maybe just dessert and coffee.
- If your vacation budget is really tight, consider vacationing at home. Make a list of all the things that a tourist would do if they came to your city on vacation. I bet you’ll find a long list of things to do, and many of them things that you’ve never tried yourself. If you’re really stumped for ideas, check in the entertainment section of your local newspaper, or try browsing your city or state Visitor and Convention Bureau website. You can do lots of activities, while eliminating the hotel and transportation costs.
- Look for “free” days at galleries, museums, and other attractions, and plan to visit on those days. Most museums have at least one day a month that is free, or when admission is just a “donation.” If you can’t make it on a free day, try for a discounted admission day instead.
