October is Halloween Month
October brings to mind a number of thoughts ““ cooler days and colder nights, changing leaves, harvest time, pressing of grapes, and let’s not forget Halloween.
I was chatting with a friend a couple days ago about the Halloween holiday. While we both agreed that it wasn’t necessarily a big holiday for us, we also agreed that it could be fun. Neither of us got hung up on the issue of whether it was a harvest festival, a pagan holiday, or if it even had religious overtones (or undertones) at all. We decided it was just meant to be a fun!
So throughout this month, I’ll be telling you about various Halloween festivities around the U.S. Whether you’re traveling to one of these destinations, or actually live there, whether you’re looking to be scared, or to just have fun, I hope you’ll find something that piques your interest.
I’ve already discovered a lot of celebrating options. A couple of them actually entice me to want to travel just to participate!
If you know about a special Halloween event, please drop me an email so that I can let everyone else know, too.

Mary Jo — Don’t forget to mention Salem, MA — just north of Boston. Very interesting place, especially at Halloween time.

Can’t forget Salem this time of year. They’ve turned witches into a cottage industry.
I actually have information about some Salem happenings. I’m currently on the road, but will get the specifics up soon.

October is a great time of the year. I like the fall activities, especially halloween and the corn Mazes. A local arist puts on a display up and down the street of gauze statues lit from within by bulbs - all ghosts, witches and my favorite - a giant magpie.

Hi Mick,
I enjoy the fall, too. Part of it’s the change of weather, but the whole harvest and Halloween theme is kind of fun.
If you get some photos of the artist’s display, I’d love to see them! It sounds wonderful.
Thanks for reading!
