Oregon Zoo’s Howloween

by Mary Jo Manzanares on October 12th, 2006

tiger.jpgPortland, Oregon residents and visitors can take part in the Oregon Zoo’s Howloween, an educational, yet fun, themed Halloween event.

Designed as a fun and safe event for trick-or-treaters, it includes a scavenger hunt, various activity stations around the zoo, and, of course, goody bags filled with candy and prizes.

The scavenger hunt celebrates the 7th birthday of the brother and sister Siberian Tigers.  From there, you will explore other exhibits, including learning about spiders, the Malayan Sun Bear, zebras, and the real howlers of the zoo, the Alaska Gray Wolf.  Special Halloween treats await both animals and humans alike.

The Oregon Zoo is located five minutes from downtown Portland, and is accessible by Portland’s MAX Light Rail.

Howloween runs October 29-30th, from 11 am-4 pm.

Admission is $9.50 for adults, $8 for seniors (65+), $6.50 (children3-11), infants 2 and under, free.  If you ride MAX to the zoo, you’ll get a 50-cent discount on your admission price.  Parking is $1 per car.
