Philadelphia: First Saturdays, Too

by Mary Jo Manzanares on September 16th, 2006

Apparently, Philadelphia has First Saturdays, too.

The Saturday afternoon following First Friday, the First Saturday Gallery Tours provides an interactive educational session to help interested people learn about art.

Rather than the large, dare I say “party” atmosphere of the night before, these Saturday afternoons provide a smaller, more intimate setting. You can learn about art from the artists themselves, as well as gallery owners and curators, as they provide lectures, panel discussions, and workshops on the art exhibitions around the city.

Check the Old City Arts website for specific schedules.

What a great idea! Living in a new town, I have no idea if we have anything like this, but a nice way to spend the afternoon! Will definitely have to check.

I’m thinking that they haev these type of art things all over the place, it’s just that people never think to look into it.

I know that I’ll do something like this when I traveling — because I’m looking for something a little different to do. But when I’m at home, I’d never think of it.
