by Mary Jo Manzanares on May 24th, 2007

Brooklyn BridgeDetails: The Brooklyn Bridge is one of the oldest suspension bridges in the United States. At a length of just under 6,000 feet, it connects Manhattan and Brooklyn over the East River, and has become a recognizable part of the New York skyline. It is open to bicycles and pedestrians as well as motor vehicles.

The Gothic-style bridge is on the National Register of Historic Places and is a National Historic Engineering Landmark.
