Rockefeller Center
Bordered on the north by 51st, to the south by 47th, to the east by Fifth Avenue and to the West by Seventh Avenue, Rockefeller Center occupies prime real estate in midtown Manhattan.
A mix of indoor and outdoor facilities, Rock Center is home to Radio City Music Hall, the GE Building, NBC Studios and the Today Show studios. It features over 100 shops and over 40 dining options.
The outdoor plaza turns into the famous ice rink during the winter months, and is a prime viewing spot for the annual Christmas Tree Lighting. The Promenade and Garden entrance to the plaza is on Fifth Avenue, directly across from Sak’s (one of my favorite shopping spots).
During the summer there are art exhibits, farmers markets and other outdoor events in the Promenade and Garden area.
A couple of hours are ample to watch some ice skating, check out a few of the shops, and have a bite of lunch or a drink. Allow longer for serious shopping, or any of the organized tours. Tickets for Rock Center tours, NBC Studio tours, Today Show tours, and Radio City Music Hall tours are available for purchase online.
Rock Center is an easy walk from many subway options:
B, D, F, V to Rockefeller Center (47-50th)
6 to 51st & Lexington
1, 9 to 50th & Broadway
N, R, W to 49th & Seventh
E to Fifth & 53rd
