Shopping: Pacifica Soap
Some things are just meant to go together: Love and Marriage. Horse and Carriage. Tea and Sympathy. Flight Attendants and Shopping.
I enjoy shopping on my layovers because it gives me an opportunity to find things that I wouldn’t find at home. While I’m not an avant garde, cutting-edge dresser, it is nice to wear things that haven’t made their way into the stores at home. That way, I never worry about showing up in the same outfit, or wearing the same accessories, as someone else.
I also like finding the perfect gift for my friends, one that isn’t seen in every store. Or, luxuries that are not too great of a splurge. Or, little indulgences that will always remind me of my travels. Or sometimes, because I’m taking the time to wander and explore, I find an item that I would have passed by at my local store.
My last layover in Miami proved to be one of those occasions when I discovered, and fell in love with, a product that I likely passed by many times before.
When I travel, I always pack my own soap. It’s a little luxury. I prefer ones that smell good and do not use animal testing. Traveling tends to bring on dry skin from the abuse it takes in a dry, pressurized cabin, the constant use of unfamiliar water, and often, poor eating habits. That’s why I make sure to find a high quality, glycerin-based, soap to use.
While wandering South Beach, I was delighted to find a little shop that carried Pacifica products, a high quality line of soaps and candles. I chose the Brazilian-Mango-Grapefruit scented soap (6 oz. for $6.95). I’ve been using it for a few days now, and my skin feels soft and smells yummy. Perfect!
Prices are the same at the Pacifica website as they were at the store, and with a free shipping option, it’s likely that I’ll be ordering soon. Next up: Hawaiian Ruby Guava and Tunisian Jasmine.
