Sit for a Spell and Look at the View
It’s nice to see that hotels are giving thought to how to best use space that might otherwise be unused, giving guests additional way to enjoy the hotel and resort.
A recent stay at a beach resort property had this lovely feature — couches in the alcoves that overlooked the ocean. You could sit and have a drink and watch the sun go down. Sit there with a morning cup of coffee and plan your day. Or just meet up with others in your group, and venture out for a day at the beach or an evening out on the town.
The space would otherwise have been unused, or under-used, and for the price of some couches, (two per floor) this provided a nice value-added feature for guests.
Does your favorite hotel provide a little extra touch like this to make it special? Please share in the comments.

One of my favorite hotels, the Upham in Santa Barbara, has seating throughout the gardens that join the individual cottages. A couple are hidden away, surrounded by hedges and nestled around fountains. They’re great places to steal away, and our kids liked ‘hiding away’ in them too.
