For the people opting out of travel, I’d be interested in knowing why. Are they afraid to fly? Or, do they just not want to deal with the additional hassle of the extra security regulations?

Ooooooh! Good idea. If you’re changing your plans, leave a little explanation here in the comments.

Considering that UK is one of my major accounts which means that I need to fly to London 1-2x per month, I would say NO to my boss.

The above statement is only theoretical, though, as I am currently on maternity leave. Thank God!

Melissa - Since carry ons aren’t allowed on flights into the UK, I’m trying to decide what people would do while airborne. I’d be so bored!

    Enjoy your maternity leave!

Mary Jo, I think you mean carry-ons aren’t allowed on flights OUT of the UK? Unless things have changed in the last few hours. I am flying back to London in 2 weeks and the Delta website only lists a ban on liquids and gels.

I would only travel out of London again if on Singapore Airlines or another airline that has personal in-flight entertainment for every seat in every class. Otherwise, it would be unthinkable to travel abroad with my pre-schooler.

One clarification, I understand British Airways is not allowing carry-ons on any of their flights.

My husband and I are scheduled to fly next week and again in early Sept. We have no plans to change our plans at this point. (These are all domestic flights.)In some ways, it might be safer to fly now since security will be tightened. We must adapt ourselves to some of the new regulations about what we can carry onboard. I plan to pack less in my carry-on, simply so it will be quicker to scan and to look through if they opt to do mine.

Hsien: The original ban on carry on baggage was for all flights into and out of the U.K. Last I checked, that hadn’t changed. Crew members were exempt from the ban on flights going into the UK, but were not coming out. I’d expect things to change (probably a couple of times) before you have to make your return trip.

Mary Emma: When I went to work last night, it seemed like travelers had figured out what they could and couldn’t take onboard. Security lines were moving quite quickly and efficiently. And you’re right, less carry ons means the lines will go faster.

And that the darn @# #%@#&#@@J @%@#@% people will actually get off the lane quickly when it’s time to deplane! GAH!!!

Jeremy: Deplaning is my least favorite part of the flight as it always seems to take so long! You’d think people would be anxious to get off. I’ve only had two flights since the carry on restriction was put into effect, but it has made a difference. The plane empties out much, much faster.
