Fly Away Cafe - Where travel is a way of life

Talking Travel at the Flyaway Cafe: At Interview with Kim Banks from Blogfabulous

by Mary Jo Manzanares on May 30th, 2006

kim banks.jpgThis week’s interview is with Kim Banks, a writer by education, and a marketing professional by trade.  Kim, her husband, and dog Trotter (seen with Kim in photo at right) live in Emerson, New Jersey.  She is quick to point out that she doesn’t know anyone from The Sopranos, although many of the location shots were taken near where she lives.

Where did you go on your last vacation:  Las Vegas.

Where do you plan to go on your next vacation:  In my mind, Rome.  In reality, Long Beach Island, New Jersey.  They have beautiful beaches!

Who would you want sitting next to you on a five-hour flight:  Craig Ferguson of TV’s Late Night and Robert Redford.

Do you have a travel tip that you’d like to share: I always dress well when traveling.  Having lived in London, I took two trips back to the states, and each time I dressed up I was bumped up to business class.

Name five destinations that are on your “must see before I die” list:  Capri, Scotland, Alaska, Tokyo, and Provence.

Window seat or aisle:  Window.

All time favorite vacation experience:  I just saw the cast of Entourage in Vegas last week…very cute.

Most embarrassing travel experience:  When they pull you aside for the security wand check.

Favorite hotel:  SoHo Grand in NYC.  A very lovely hotel, Kim.

Is traveling about the journey or the destination:  Both.  The journey can have stopovers, if possible.

If I am in Emerson, and have a spare four hours, what would you recommend that I do:  I live in Emerson, NJ which is one 1/2 hour from NYC.  Go into the city and shop your brains out.
