Tampa: Graveyard Tours
More graveyard tours for Halloween, this one a suggestion from my friend SP over at Southern Byways.
Maureen Patrick is a historian, actress, and president of the Tampa Historical Society, and brings her myriad skills to the role of Miss Prudence Fipwhistle as she educates tour groups about the “residents” of Tampa’s Oaklawn Cemetery.
This isn’t a scary tour, though. It’s more a chance to learn about the Victoria-era graveyard, and a little history of the area.
Still ““ the next tour is scheduled for just a few days before Halloween: October 29th at 3 pm.
Oaklawn Cemetery is located at N. Moran and E. Harrison Streets in Tampa. There is no charge for the tour, but a donation to the Tampa Historical Society of $5 is suggested.
The Historical Society’s website is currently under development, so for more information about the Graveyard Tour call (813) 831-5214.

Hi folks! Great to see some flattering info about our annual Gothic Graveyard Walk, but the date is October 26 and the Tour starts at 3:30 p.m. Can you make the change? Thanks and see you at the graveyard!

Oops - also, the street location is MORGAN (nor Moran) and Harrison Sts. just north of downtown Tampa. Don’t want to get people lost before their time…
