The Hotel Version of Ask Jeeves
When friends talk about having their “people” (i.e., secretary, administrative assistant, executive assistant, etc.) arrange details, it makes me laugh.
You see, I don’t have “people” There’s just me. And occasionally, if the timing is right, sometimes a friend will answer my phone, making it sound like I’m in a “real” office.
So it was with some amusement that I read about the St. Regis Hotel’s hotel butler program.
If you’re in a meeting, or stuck in a cab, or running late at the airport, you can whip out your blackberry (or laptop, or cell phone) and fire off a message to your very own, personal butler. Well, actually all emails are send to a generic email address, and then routed to your butler. Currently the St. Regis has assigned one butler per floor.
Request a change in dinner reservations, or tickets to a show, or some other special service, and your own personal Jeeves will be happy to take care of you.
There is no additional charge for this butler service. But then, rooms at the St. Regis don’t come cheap.

Ha! I love it. And since I don’t have “people” either to handle my affairs, I’d get a kick out of having someone else do this on vacation. ‘Course not sure I’d be staying at a St. Regis on vacation either.

Now that is cool. I always wanted my very own butler.
