Tour Haunted Toronto

by Mary Jo Manzanares on October 10th, 2007

ghosts There’s history behind every city that is far more interesting that what you’re likely to read on the official City website.  It’s the nitty-gritty side of a city, something that gives it real character. . . and makes it fun.

It turns out that Toronto has a dark and seamy side that includes some rather ghoulish history.  The Toronto Ghosts and Haunting Research Society fashions itself the expert in haunted Toronto, and collects a variety of information and tips for ghost sightings around the greater Toronto Area.

Two tour companies are offering hauntingly good tours this Halloween season:

Muddy York Walking Tours offers a two hour Haunted Streets of Downtown Toronto, starting at the Royal Ontario Museum.  The route takes you to some of Toronto’s most notorious haunted buildings, and you’ll learn about some of the paranormal legends of the city.  The tour is offered nightly at 7 pm, October 13th - 31st.   Tickets are $10 for adults, $8 for college and university students, and $7 for 18 and under.  Reservations not required, but strongly suggested.

A Taste of the World offers four ghost walk tours during the week of Halloween. The tours last two and a half hours, and cover a variety of haunted locations.  Bring your camera — you may be able to capture a poltergeist on film.  Tickets, which include snacks, are $22 for adults, $16.50 for seniors (65+) and students (with ID, and $13 for kids (12 and under).  Advance tickets are required.

Whoooooo knew you could have such a howling good time in Toronto?!
