Visalia Corn Maze & Pumpkin Patch
It’s October already, and another year continuing the Flyaway Cafe tradition of showcasing interesting, unusual and spooky Halloween events and attractions around the world.
You’ll still be getting a regular supply of travel tips and other suggestions, but I’m hoping that you’ll find a little ghoulish fun with all the Halloween posts as well.
Today we’ll go to Visalia, and to Vossler Farms’ Corn Maze. They have a Pumpkin Patch, too, but it’s the 10-acre Dragon Slayer maze, with 12 hidden checkpoints, that captured my attention.
The maze has become a tradition with the Vossler family (yes, this really is a family business), and each year something new is added. While this is still an old-fashioned country atmosphere, this year a paintball course and pumpkin canyon shooting range has been added. I’m trying to imagine how fun it would be tracking friends and shooting paintballs among obstacles made of hay.
For the little ones there are train rides, pumpkin painting, mini-hay maze, a hay fort, tricycle races, and a corn box to play in. A petting zoo is available on weekends.
The Corn Maze is open Wednesday & Thursday, 5 – 9 pm, Friday, 5 – 10 pm, Saturday & Sunday noon – 10 pm. The pumpkin patch is open daily 10 am – dusk.
Admission is $8 for adults (ages 12+), $6 kids (ages 5-11), $5 seniors (55+) and military (with ID), kids 4 and under are FREE. Children under 12 must be accompanied by an adult.
You’ll find the Vossler Farms’ Corn Maze and Pumpkin Patch at South Mooney Boulevard and Avenue 266 in Visalia, California.

A little while back a friend and I went to a corn maze up near La Conner, Washington, and WE COULD NOT GET OUT! It was crazy.
I need to take my husband to one, I think this wacky American experience is one he hasn’t had.

I grew up on a farm and even without the maze, sometimes it’s hard to get out of a corn field once it’s full grown. It all looks the same in every direction!

Pam: I want to do a maze this year. It’s just kooky enough to appeal to me.
Danilo: Got your email and responded. Feel free to get in touch.

Sky: That’s hysterical. I never thought of it that way.

Another suggestion for a corn maze if you’re ever flying close to Lancaster, PA is Cherry Crest Farm’s Amazing Maize Maze - they’ve got a 5 acre maze with over 2.5 miles of paths. It’s also a great place to go for other activites, this past Saturday was the Potato Fest - fun for all ages! Check them out at http://www.cherrycrestfarm.com.
