What’s to Eat?

by Mary Jo Manzanares on April 14th, 2006

Where do you want to go for dinner?

Are they conveniently located?

What do they serve?

Life on the road means lots of nights in hotel rooms and lots of meals in restaurants.  Most of us have favorite restaurants that we go to time and again.  Or, we may have a list of places they we want to try, and we can find the website and check out the menu and the particulars about the place.

Sometimes, however, it’s fun to try some place new.  But all too often, we just don’t have any ideas.  Maybe we want some place close, but we don’t know what we want to eat.  Or maybe we know that we want sushi, but we just aren’t sure what’s in the area.

Here are a couple of websites that have done a nice job of answering these questions for us.  They have collected a restaurant information and menus, and then have listed them by location, and cross-referenced them by cuisine.  Only major cities are covered, so this isn’t going to help in Dubuque, but for major cities they are nice one-stop sites to help find some place new.

Menu Pages covers San Francisco (1940 entries), Chicago (2433 entries), New York City (5026 entries), and Boston (1236 entries).

Menu Pix covers San Francisco, NYC, Boston and Washington DC.

Sometimes you are just stuck at an airport waiting on delayed flights, etc. Any suggestions for airport food? Which ones have the better choices?
