Polar Bear Swim in English Bay

Despite the postponement, there is now continued summer drum circle in Stanley Park.

The Vancouver Park Board has added six porta-potties to the location and has hired Vancouver police officers to maintain peace. While the drum circle draws large crowds, the park board has opted to limit its attendance to just 50 people.

The drum circle has attracted a few negative reviews, with many people saying they were offended by the crowd size. However, organizers are looking at other strategies to keep the drum circle peaceful.

The Brahms Tam drum circle is a semi-formal gathering of drummers, with several hundred people attending each week. As the sun sets, the drum circle attracts several hundred people, including a large contingent of Canadians.

The drum circle, which has been happening since 2006, was interrupted Tuesday evening by Vancouver police riding on all-terrain vehicles. When the police arrived, they asked David Aaron to stop drumming and move along.

One of those players is Henry Choi, who is now the Men’s 35+ Singles World No. 1. Choi has been playing at Stanley Park for a decade, and has now won five LWSPO Men’s Singles titles. In fact, he is the most successful man in Stanley Park Open Singles history.

The Leith Wheeler Stanley Park Open is Canada’s largest public court tennis tournament. With more than 1200 players entering across eighty-five different categories, this tournament is a major draw for tennis enthusiasts in Vancouver.

The competition is organized by Tennis BC and features categories for both men and women. The prize money is huge, and this year, it will be the 84th Leith Wheeler Stanley Park Open.

Theatre Under the Stars

The annual festival began in 1940 when a wealthy Vancouver businessman donated funds to the city park board to build an outdoor band shell, which would become known as the Malkin Bowl.

Under the auspices of the Vancouver Park Board, the Vancouver Civic Theatre Society was created by A.S. Wootten, Basil Horsfall, E.V. Young, and Gordon Hilker. The inaugural performance took place on 6 August 1940.

The tenth season of Theatre Under the Stars will feature musicals in 2022. Musicals were scheduled for the season in 2020, but the productions were canceled for those seasons. The 2019 season will feature two musicals: Something Rotten! and We Will Rock You.

Vancouver Triathlon

The annual Vancouver Triathlon is an international triathlon that starts and ends in Stanley Park. The Olympic distance race consists of a 1.5 km swim followed by a 40 km bike ride. To keep the race course safe, the roads around the park are closed from 6:30 a.m. to 11 a.m. for the duration of the race.

The sprint distance race includes a one-lap cycle course around Park Drive while draft legal participants cycle a single circuit of 9.4 kilometres. Finally, the race concludes with a 10 km run along Beach Avenue near the Jack Poole Plaza.

The Vancouver Triathlon is a popular event for both newcomers and experienced athletes alike. The race features a flat course and is a great goal event for newbies.
